Today, the Worldwide Brewing Alliance (WBA) has unveiled a major update to its existing database of the global brewing industry’s alcohol responsibility efforts. The WBA global social responsibility initiatives website shows how deeply engaged the global brewing industry is in working to help reduce harmful and illegal use of alcohol and to encourage the responsible enjoyment of beer.
In addition to many new and updated entries, the refreshed site can now be easily viewed and used via mobile devices, making the information even more accessible. The database has also been improved to make both searches and exports easier for users.
“We are pleased to share this enhanced platform for any interested party to learn how brewers all over the world consistently work to improve their local communities through their responsibility efforts. Brewers’ efforts have the end goal of ensuring their products are always consumed in moderation,” said Denita Wawn, Chair of the Worldwide Brewing Alliance and CEO of the Brewers Association of Australia and New Zealand
Today’s website refresh is launched in conjunction with the 18 September 2015 Global Beer Responsibility Day - one of the many ways brewers work to promote the responsible consumption of beer. On this day, brewers and brewing trade associations in 62 countries, along with wholesalers, retailers, NGOs, government officials, law enforcement, and other partners, will come together to promote responsible drinking in communities around the world.
“It is our responsibility as brewers and brewing associations to prioritize tackling the harmful use of alcohol,” said Wawn. “Global Beer Responsibility Day is a moment for us to share our successes, reflect on our challenges and make a collective commitment to the work yet to be done.”
The website – http://gsri.worldwidebrewingalliance.org – offers a platform for a wide variety of interested parties to learn about hundreds of brewer-supported responsibility initiatives around the world, building upon the original website release in 2012 and previously printed compilations produced in 2007 and 2003.
The Worldwide Brewing Alliance (WBA) was established in 2003 with the objective of disseminating and exchanging good practices and information on social responsibility, environmental sustainability and product integrity issues. The WBA represents nearly 88% of the world beer production through its brewing sector members from Australia, Canada, China, Europe, Japan, Korea, Latin America, Russia, the Ukraine and the USA.
